Season 4 Recap
In Season 4, Emily started dating a charming Italian fashion heir and moved into an apartment in Italy to help Agence Grateau open a Rome office. But don’t worry, the show’s name stays the same. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says Star. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”
Why Rome?
The idea of sending Emily to Italy came from Star’s wish to surprise viewers and show that the series can grow even bigger.
Season 4 Success
When Season 4 premiered in August, it topped the Netflix Global Top 10 with 19.9M views in just four days. It made it to the Top 10 in 93 countries and stayed there for four weeks straight.
Announcement on Good Morning America
Lily Collins revealed the news of Season 5 on Good Morning America and told Tudum she’s excited to explore what happens next between her character and Marcello.
New Romance
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” Collins explains. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

More About Emily and Marcello
Star confirms that Emily’s relationship with Marcello will be a big part of Season 5. “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
What About Gabriel?
Emily’s neighbor and sometimes-boyfriend Gabriel realized at the end of Season 4 that he wants to be with her. Even though they had communication issues, he’s now ready to fight for their love. “Unfortunately,” says Collins, “Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice” to end things with her.
