The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Renewal Confirmed

It’s time to roll down the windows because things are about to heat up with new episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer premiering on Oct. 17.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is back as Mickey Haller in this legal drama with 10 fresh episodes inspired by The Gods of Guilt, the fifth book in the series by Michael Connelly. Showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ted Humphrey think it might be Connelly’s best work from that time.

Garcia-Rulfo shares his excitement, saying, “This season is very exciting. We see Mickey struggling with so many things at the same time — with romance, with the wives, with the cases. You never expect what’s going to happen, who’s going to be bad and who’s going to be guilty.”

Want a glimpse into the upcoming season? Here’s all you need to know about Season 3.

Why is Maggie back in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3?

Last season, Mickey’s ex-wife Maggie moved to San Diego for a job at the DA’s office. But she’s still a part of Mickey’s life, according to Humphrey. “Even if she’s not there, [she’s] always in the back of his being,” Garcia-Rulfo adds. Mickey feels like he’s cheating on her whenever he meets someone new.

This season features flashbacks that show how Mickey became who he is today. Though these scenes are not in Connelly’s book, the showrunners felt they added depth to Mickey’s character. We see young Mickey surfing and spending time with his wife Maggie, giving us insight into his journey.

Fans are excited to see how these flashbacks will shape Mickey’s story.

Will the Los Angeles restaurant scene make a cameo?

If you enjoyed the tour of LA’s hot spots in previous seasons, you’re in for a treat. Rodriguez mentions that Season 3 will feature La Monarca Bakery and the Philippe’s vs. Cole’s French dip debate. Humphrey adds that they even shot scenes at Nobu in Malibu.

The show’s real restaurant scenes add flavor to the story. “The food gives it another character,” says Garcia-Rulfo. “It’s like a trademark of the show. Mickey’s a foodie!”

Which cars will show up in Season 3?

Mickey usually drives a Lincoln Navigator, but Season 3 brings back his original beachy convertible Volkswagen in flashbacks. Another car close to Garcia-Rulfo’s heart is Mickey’s powder-blue 1963 Lincoln Continental. “Shooting nights in that convertible, in that Lincoln, is so cool,” he says. He hopes Netflix might gift it to him as a wrap present.

How did The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 end?

Season 2 premiered on July 6, 2023, and quickly rose to the Netflix Global Top 10. Mickey faced challenges both professionally and personally. He had to prove the innocence of Lisa Trammell, accused of murder. Their prior romantic involvement complicated things. Although she was found not guilty, her past caught up with her, affecting any future with Mickey.

The season ended with Mickey learning about the death of his friend Glory Days, making the next season very personal for him. Rodriguez says, “Mickey very much is [wondering], ‘Did he have something to do with this? Could he have done more to help her?’”

Executive producer Ross Fineman adds that this case will be Mickey’s toughest yet, both professionally and personally. “This was his friend,” he said, “and there’s a nagging sense that he might have been responsible in some way.”

How has Glory’s death changed Mickey in Season 3?

After Glory’s death, Mickey becomes intensely focused. Rodriguez describes him as a “man on fire.” The broken Mickey from Season 1 has evolved. Season 2 saw him flying high and getting burned. Now, he’s a man with a mission.

When is The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 release date?

All episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 drop on Oct. 17. While you wait, you can catch up on the first two seasons on Netflix.
