What is Outer Banks Season 4 about?
In the Season 3 finale, the Pogues had found the gold in El Dorado after 18 months. They were dealing with the deaths of Ward and Big John but took a moment to celebrate their victory. Co-creator Shannon Burke mentioned that “they couldn’t completely lose the third season,” while Josh Pate added, “We knew we needed to give them a win, but it ended up being a complicated one.”
The creators wanted fans to feel the strength of the Pogues’ friendship amidst all the action. Burke said, “There’s all this action and adventure, but it’s really about the bond between the friends.” Josh Pate also wanted viewers to sense that more adventures were coming.
Season 4 takes us back to the lead-up to Wes Genrette’s proposal to find Blackbeard’s treasure. After finding the gold, the Pogues return to the OBX and try to live a “normal” life. They set up “Poguelandia 2.0,” running a bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. But financial troubles pull them back into the treasure hunt with Wes.
Soon, they’re in over their heads with new enemies chasing them and their problems growing. They start questioning everything—who they are, if it’s all worth it, and what they’re willing to risk.
