Anya Taylor-Joy is ready to show everyone some killer moves in the new British series How to Kill Your Family.
She’ll play Grace Bernard, a character created by Bella Mackie in her 2021 novel. According to Mackie, Taylor-Joy is perfect for the role and seems to understand Grace even better than she does.
Grace is the forgotten daughter of a wealthy billionaire named Simon Artemis. After being rejected, she decides to get revenge, but this plan might cost her more than she’s already lost. Taylor-Joy is excited to dive into this complex journey with Emma Moran, who is writing and producing the series.
“As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life,” Taylor-Joy told Netflix. “After some (light) stalking of the inimitable Bella Mackie, I could not be more thrilled to be collaborating with the team that is executive producers Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Emma. I am looking forward to getting our hands even dirtier.”
You can already check out the book How to Kill Your Family while you wait for the series. Keep reading for more details on the upcoming drama.
What is How to Kill Your Family about?
The series has eight episodes and follows Grace, who has a tough family situation. Her father, Simon Artemis, is a rich and ruthless man. He doesn’t remember the affair that led to Grace’s birth, leaving her and her mom to survive on their own. After her mother dies and she faces more rejection, Grace turns her anger into a mission: to kill off her estranged family in creative ways. As she seeks revenge and a big inheritance, she drifts away from what she truly needs.
Emma Moran, the writer, felt a strong connection to Grace’s character. She said, “She’s the kind of complicated, dark, but utterly hilarious antihero you dream of writing.” Moran is excited about blending campy fun with brutal violence, just like in the book. She mentioned that working on this project has been the most fun despite the high body count.
Fans are really curious to see how this will all turn out.
